Naamah a novel7/7/2023 ![]() ![]() Here is the woman tormented by dreams and questions of her own - questions of service and self-determination, of history and memory, of the kindness or cruelty of fate. Here is the woman escaping into the unreceded waters, where a seductive angel tempts her to join a strange and haunted world. Here is the woman torn between faith and fury, lending her strength to her sons and their wives, caring for an unruly menagerie of restless creatures, silently mourning the lover she left behind. Now, in a work of astounding invention, acclaimed writer Sarah Blake reclaims the story of his wife, Naamah, the matriarch who kept them alive. We know the story of Noah, moved by divine vision to launch their escape. ![]() With the coming of the Great Flood - the mother of all disasters - only one family was spared, drifting on an endless sea, waiting for the waters to subside. A wildly imaginative novel of the reluctant heroine who rescued life on earth. ![]()

![]() Aiden is a man of little words and I would love to know how much he actually says in the first half of the book. The speed of the book is perfect, because they are not emotionally ready for more. This slow burn is a building of a friendship and then relationship between two emotionally scarred individuals. My frustration with slow burns tends to be when the characters have so much sexual tension, but they refuse to act on it. This is the slowest burn I have EVER read and it is the BEST slow burn I have read. I am not the biggest fan of slow burns, so I was a little nervous when Sarah MacLean and others responded to my story and let me know this is a “real slow burn”. She is shocked to find him on her doorstep asking her to come back, especially since he rarely spoke to her when she worked for him. Aiden expresses no emotion when she tells him she wants to move on. She has finally saved up enough money to take a leap of faith and start her own graphic design business. Vanessa has worked as an assistant for professional football defensive end Aiden for two years. ![]() I always turn to her list when I am in a funk and it has never let me down! Obviously I am a fan of the strong silent type, so this book had me from the start! The Wall of Winnipeg and Me is a book that is on Sarah MacLean’s rec list on her website. I'm in love with the index/glossary in the back of the book called, "Franchesa's Simple Explanations of Not-So-Simple Concepts" in which she defines terms like "male gaze" or "microagression" or "trigger" and other terms you'll see in comment flame wars but might not know. In Well, That Escalated Quickly, she shares her (often hilarious) learning curve with us and opens more space for big conversations. ![]() What followed was a crash course in intersectionality, feminism, activism, social justice, and generally how to be a decent person on the internet. Franchesca tells us the story of when her YouTube parody video, Shit White Girls Say to Black Girls, went viral.and all of the opportunities and backlash that came her way as a result of sharing your voice on the internet. ![]() It's a funny, touching, and educational look at what it's really like to stand up for what you believe in online. If you're a denizen of the internet and/or ever use social media, you need to read this book. ![]()
